3 Tips to avoid buying a FAKE CLARINET

Lately, replicas of clarinets have been appearing on second-hand portals, especially from the Buffet Crampon and Yamaha brands, which are sold as if they were originals, even imitating the brand's warranty papers. Below I give you 3 tips to detect them and thus avoid being scammed:

Tip #1 - Plastic wrapping each piece of the instrument

An original clarinet will NEVER come wrapped in clear plastic or any other material. They do this to give you the feeling that the clarinet is unused. In addition, it will not have colored pieces between the keys to "protect" the mechanisms, like the ones seen in the image above.

Tip #2 - The briefcase

What clarinet imitators usually do is use an authentic but old case of the brand, corresponding to a previous original instrument, and inside they place the fake clarinet, to give more of a feeling of authenticity. If you see that the case has signs of wear and tear and, on the other hand, the clarinet is wrapped in plastic or unused, do not buy it.

Tip #3 - The price

If the clarinet in question has a price that is too attractive, which does not correspond to the prices of recognized or official stores, be suspicious.

Despite these 3 tips, sometimes it is difficult to recognize whether an instrument is an imitation or an original, so we recommend that before buying it you consult with your teacher or a clarinet professional who can guide you.
